The volcanic crater Kerið is situated in the Golden Circle in the Grímsnes area, a popular summer house area.

Visitors can hike around the approximately 270 meters long and 170 meters wide crater. In the bottom of the approximately 50 meter deep crater is water, which is the same level as the groundwater. The depth can vary between seven and fourteen meters.
Concerts have been held in the crater where the artists are on a floating platform with the people sitting on the slopes.
Kerið is privately owned and one of few places in Iceland where tourists are charged. A fee of approximately 400 ISK is charged per person.
