Located in the southeastern part of Iceland, near Hornafjordur, gastronomes often refer to Höfn, the second-largest town in the south–east, as ‘lobster town’, simply because of the abundant availability of delicious lobsters here. What’s more, the port town also boasts of an annual lobster festival in July that attracts seafood lovers from far and wide, which is regarded as one of the oldest town festivals in the country.

Of course, over the years Höfn has changed from being a sleepy fishing town to becoming a vibrant tourist attraction with hotels, restaurants, campsites, museums and other modern facilities, as it stands in close proximity to other popular destinations. Nearby are other attractions like Vatnajokull National Park, home to the largest glacier in Europe, Diamond Beach, Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, Vestrahorn mountain and Skaftafell nature Reserve popular for its wildlife, including reindeer.
Situated very close to the Ring Road, Höfn literally means harbor. And if you harbor the desire for delicious lobster, you do not need any added reasons to visit Höfn!
