Seljalandsfoss, a 60 meter high waterfall which can be seen from behind.
Seljalandsfoss is one of four waterfalls that are the most popular on the South Coast. The 60 meter high waterfall in the river Seljalandsá, coming from the mountain Eyjafjöll. On top of the mountain is the famous glacier Eyjafjallajökull. In 2010 the volcano under the glacier erupted and disturbed air traffic in Europe for a couple of weeks.
Seljalandsfoss is very popular as it is possible to walk all the way behind the waterfall and down the other side. Clothes might get a bit wet, but no worries, it’s only water.
In the parking lot are restroom facilities and simple sales booths with fast food, coffee etc.
Location.
On the South Coast on road 249, close to road no 1, between Hvolsvöllur (21 km / 13 mi) and Vík (60 km / 37,3 mi)
